Issue Resolution

A few months ago, we bought a mattress at Mattress Warehouse, Niles location. Within 60 days, the mattress began to develop uneven low spots and, I began to experience back pain to the point that I was having problems getting out of bed. We contacted the manager, and exchanged the mattress for a new one (same brand) hoping the problem was just with the first mattress. Within 60 days, mattress began to develop sinkholes. I called the manager and asked for the manufacturers contact information, so I could contact them. He responded that complaints are handled through their business, and he came out to inspect the mattress. Today, I received a letter stating mattress defect doesn’t meet criteria for a covered defect. We spent almost $1,500.00 for the mattress and boxspring and in order to prevent a chronic back injury, we are taking a total loss because we are buying a new one (elsewhere) to replace it. Anyone have recommendations on a quality mattress?

We are sorry you are unhappy with your mattress. When we delivered the first mattress, you explained that you thought it was defective. As a courtesy, we waived the warranty inspection and replaced your mattress with the same mattress with no additional restock, redelivery, set up or removal fee. Upon inspecting your mattress, we determined it was not defective but replaced it as a courtesy. When you informed us that you believed your second mattress was defective, our warranty inspector came out to measure and found there was no measurable impression. Mattress Warehouse acts as a liaison between the manufacturer and customer unless it is deemed out of the guidelines for warranty replacement as provided by the manufacturer. We will be happy to replace your second mattress if it falls within the manufacture’s replacement guidelines.
Unfortunately no mattress can "prevent a chronic back injury" so you may want to speak to your doctor if that is a concern for you.

From a nursing perspective, I agree that no mattress can “prevent a chronic back injury”, but with a good deal of confidence, I can say that sleeping on a mattress that results in improper spine alignment can cause vertebral disc problems , including herniation. Thanks.
